Postma Fine Art is a Private Fine Art Dealer with headquarters in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, specializing in the acquisition, sale & appraisal of notable indigenous, modern & contemporary Canadian Fine Art. We are happy to assist you with your inquiries - all are welcome.
We welcome your fine art purchases, consignments (specific artwork to our 'current acquisitions of interest' list), consulting and appraisal requests. We travel across Canada for special projects.
Our President studied business, and has an undergraduate degree in art history (B.A. Honours Art History), holds a number of professional business designations and is formally trained and tested in all aspects of personal property appraisal specializing in Canadian Fine Art. She is very familiar with both Eastern and Western Canada, having travelled extensively both nationally (and internationally) during her professional career.
Postma Fine Art is a past exhibitor at various venues including Art Toronto International Art Fair, ARTSY, at Spruce Meadows; past member of the Chamber of Commerce, and an official fine art dealer of Inuit / Cape Dorset originals and prints via Dorset Fine Arts. In addition, staff personally support a number of fine arts organizations across Canada.
Connect with us on social media including Twitter, Facebook and Linked In; you may have seen our print ads in Canadian magazines such as Galleries West, Canadian Art, and Avenue Calgary over the years.
Formal written appraisals are available at $250. Cdn. + tax per hour (please contact for a personal quote). All potential engagements are subject to pre-review and acceptance, and specified terms and conditions. We do not provide appraisals for artwork we have a financial interest in, to avoid any potential conflict of interest (i.e. assigning an appraisal value for the same work we may be interested in purchasing or accepting on consignment).
Consider joining our mailing list on the Contact page to receive occasional email regarding new art, special events and exhibitions.
Regarding the ARR (Artist Resale Right): The ARR is not yet available in Canada however, we are leading by example to support Canadian Visual Artists and voluntarily recognize it for art sold on the secondary market (respecting certain criteria). The Artist’s Resale Right (ARR) entitles the creators (or the ‘authors’) of original works of art (including paintings, engravings, sculpture and ceramics) to a royalty each time one of their works is resold through an auction house or art market professional. Contact us for details.
Thank you for your interest; we appreciate your business and look forward to assisting you.
All inquiries are in confidence and without obligation.
We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the traditional territories of the Blackfoot and the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikuni, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina, and the Stoney Nakoda First Nations, including Chiniki, Bearpaw, and Wesley First Nations. Calgary is situated on land adjacent to where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, and the traditional Blackfoot name of this place is “Mohkinstsis” which we now call the City of Calgary. The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
